Sounds of Brazil: The Music of Pixinguinha with Rogério Souza, Edinho Gerber, Ami Molinelli IN-PERSON WORKSHOP Explore the music of Pixinguinha (1897 – 1973), considered one of the greatest Brazilian composers and popularizers of the choro genre. Workshop leader Rogerio Souza was one of the arrangers of the quintessential Choro Songbooks Volumes: 1, 2, and 3 by Almir Chediak. Rogerio and his family (including brother Ronaldo do Bandolim, nephew Tiago Souza and others) were featured in the documentary Brasileirinho and are known for having created a new genre of choro called “choro novo” with the band Nó em Pingo D’Água, which included electric bass and groove-driven arrangements. Rogerio has also performed with Ney Matagrosso, Paulinho da Viola, Baden Powell, and many more throughout his career. Edinho Gerber of Duo Violão and percussionist Ami Molinelli join Rogerio in leading the workshop. For all instruments. Please bring your instrument. BUY TICKETS
